Why recycled sari silk?

My first encounter with the incredible versatility of sari silk occurred at an exhibition in Tasmania. Artists, including fibre artists and basket makers, showcased their talent by incorporating sari silk yarn in their work. It was the first time I learned about the women in India who collect fluff from factory floors and spin it into colourful yarn.

Having enjoyed using this material for years, I found it challenging to acquire. Eventually, I discovered a supplier in India that supports women's groups, helping to supplement families' incomes. I wanted to share the wonderful yarn that our sisters in India create by recycling fibre from their vibrant clothing.

I am thrilled to support women working in this eco-friendly, sustainable cottage industry in India.
